Ladies and Lines

 

More sketches, some of which I had forgotten to post before. Largely just trying out different techniques. The fifth image of the smiling lady, I'm pretty certain I was going from a reference, but for the life of me, I can't remember what I was working from.

Power Paintress Again

 

I kinda like this character, enough I am pondering how I'd make a comic book featuring here (and then not actually do it, of course). I think she needs a redesign, though. I wasn't really going for a particular look outside of attempting some kind of cheesy 90's aesthetic mish-mash. Will workshop it some.

Angel Tops

Went good ol' fashion pencil-and-paper, with all the messy fuck ups that entails. The real point of the exercise was to actually try doing some inking, which I attempted with a micron pen. Can't say I'm too pleased with the results, honestly. I can make pencil lines dark enough to carry themselves on a scanner/photo, so the inking doesn't actually make it stand out that much more than it already does. I feel like it flattens the line work moreso than helps it. I tried to do a little bit of shading via thickening certain lines in the inking stage, but that's something I need more practice on. That said, I don't think the micron is particularly good for this task. Potentially messier as it may be, I think I would like to actually try inking with a brush or a fountain pen, and see how that feels.

Been readin' some 90s comics lately, felt the need to make a new, doofy superhero! Couldn't decide on a color scheme, though I figure she's got reddish-orange hair.

Every time I think I have the shape of the human head down, the next time I try to draw them, I fuck it all up again. :S
