Cosmic Horror has some appeal to me as a matter of lore, and its capacity for facilitating cool monsters into stories. I have a couple such things across some of my works, but it hasn't been something I've really dug into directly that much.
I'm not quite sure what's going on in this image. First glance may imply the woman has sacrificed someone for her God, but is this actually the case? Perhaps she was supposed to be the sacrifice, and she managed to turn the tables on her captors and free herself, only to be confronted by the God before she can escape. Perhaps she was attempting to stop something horrific from happening, and summoned this eldritch creature for assistance. Maybe all this is simply a twisted vision she is seeing in her nightmares, the Creature before her representing death or some other schism, pulling away someone she cared about, the knife implying that it was her own actions who drove them away.
